remove.bg is shutting down on December 1, 2026. Here’s what sellers can do.
remove.bg was the go-to “drop a photo, get the background off” site. Its own website is closing and the tool is moving into Canva. Here’s what that means if you sell online, and how to switch in a few minutes.
remove.bg is closing on December 1, 2026
remove.bg has announced that its own website will no longer be available from December 1, 2026 at 9:00am CET. In its words: “We're now migrating remove.bg's background removal functionality into the Canva platform.” (remove.bg FAQ). If you use remove.bg today, download anything you still need from your account and use up any credits before then.
If you don't want to move into a design app, PicMerchant is a straight swap for sellers: drop in a photo, get the background off, and finish any edge by hand. PicMerchant vs remove.bg, side by side.
